Introduction

The pictures on this Web site are mostly documentary in purpose, intended to show you something about the natural world or about the nature of hiking. Sometimes, they capture the beauty of nature, but I don't separate the purely documentary from the beautiful. The result is a hodge-podge of the sublime and the mundane.

On this page, I have collected a few of the pictures that are (in my opinion, at least) of some artistic merit. These are the ones you are most likely to want print out and display. Most of these have spent at least a little time as the "wallpaper" of one or another of my computers.

And by way of endorsement, this collection also includes most of the most frequently downloaded pictures on the Web site.

To save space and download time, this page displays the picture in a very tiny format. Be aware that these reduced images lose the detail, and much of the beauty, of the full-size originals. Each picture is a link to the full-size version, so you can click on it to see it, or right-click and select "Save target as" to save the full-size version to your computer.

If you would like to request a copy of one or more of these pictures without the copyright notice, copy the file name (immediately to the right of the picture) into the Picture Request Form to send the request. I encourage you to order oil on canvas prints of these pictures from Photogonia, and I will, upon request, grant permission for you to display these images in your home or workplace. (Be aware that the copyright still applies and all rights are reserved.)
